The Department of Smart Water Conservancy is one of the undergraduate teaching management institutions belongs to the College of Water Resources and Hydropower, responsible for the construction of smart water conservancy undergraduate majors as well as the cultivation of talents. We began to enroll students in 2022，the major is the first batch of New Engineering Major in water conservancy in China, which integrates water conservancy engineering, computer science and technology, information and communication engineering and other disciplines. Relying on the long history and operating conditions of first-class discipline of water conservancy engineering and undergraduate majors of water conservancy and information in Hohai University，this major is committed to cultivating senior professionals who can apply new generation information technologies such as cloud computing, Internet of Things, big data, mobile Internet and artificial intelligence to hydrological forecasting, water resources development and utilization, hydraulic design, engineering construction, safety monitoring and water conservancy dispatching in the water conservancy industry, serving the construction of digital twin river basins, digital twin water networks and digital twin water conservancy projects in China.
This major has 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers and 11 practical teaching bases, and attaches importance to school-enterprise cooperation and integration of production and teaching. Establishing and Organizing “the first national symposium on the construction of smart water conservancy specialty”“ the national water conservancy innovative design competition”and “the water creative design competition” for college students in Jiangsu Province, so as to cultivate excellence and comprehensive talents in all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor. At present, all full-time teachers have doctoral degrees and associate senior and above titles, including 3 national talents and 5 provincial and ministerial talents, with reasonable age structure, interdisciplinary background and experience in teaching and scientific research related to smart water conservancy. In recent years, teachers have won many honors, such as the second prize of national teaching achievement, the special prize of Jiangsu teaching achievement, and the special prize of the national lecture competition for young teachers majoring in water conservancy. Students have made great achievements in national, provincial and ministerial-level science and technology competitions, such as the National College Students' Water Conservancy Innovative Design Competition, the China International Internet Plus College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the Challenge Cup China College Students' Entrepreneurship Plan Competition.
